Alice McFarland

Alice M. McFarland, 83, of Doylestown/Norton, passed from this life on November 24, 2018, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on the O.C. Barber Farm while her father was employed there and grew up in the Akron area and Hartford, WV.

She was a wonderful homemaker who loved her family and always made sure they were cared for. Alice was known for gardening and growing the most beautiful gladiolus. She enjoyed flowers and redbirds, reading the newspaper, watching the news, Christian television and the Country Music Awards.

Alice attended Winning Side Baptist Church. She loved gospel music and good Bible preaching. She was known for being able to recite the Beatitudes without missing a word. 

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Mac" McFarland of 64 years; parents, Harry and Rachel Gibbs; brothers, Herbert, Robert, Arnold, Roy, Russ and Less; sisters, Mary and Edna; sons-in-law, Randy Croft and Timothy Copeland.

She is survived by daughters, Roxanne (Croft) Copeland of Norton and Diana Murphy of TN; sons, Edward (Paula) McFarland of Barberton, John (Deborah) McFarland of Dalton, Charles P. (Sheri) McFarland of Doylestown and Kelly (Vickey) McFarland of TN; sister, Lillian (Paul) Harris of Racine, OH; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., NORTON on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., where services will be held on Friday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one-half hour prior. Rev. Cecil Farmer II, Rev. Josh McFarland, and Rev. Tim Hileman officiating.

Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winning Side Baptist Church, Hospice of Summa or the Cancer Foundation, in memory of Alice.
