Alvin Bernard Christman

Alvin Bernard Christman of Akron passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from coronary artery disease at age 75. He was born in Akron, a son of the late Alvin Nicholas and Mary E. Horning Christman.

Bernie was a lifetime resident of Akron. He retired from Kennametal Inc., in Solon, where he was employed as a senior manufacturing engineer. In work, as well as in life, he had an innate ability to understand mechanics and was fondly known to be “Mr. Fix-It.” Once a month, he looked forward to lunches with a group of childhood friends with whom he shared his Catholic upbringing. It was a social gathering that was dear to his heart. Above all else, Bernie was a family man. His family was his greatest source of pride, his most adored hobby, and the place where he focused all his time and energy. He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to share in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Mark Allen Christman. Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sherrie Christman; children, Craig M. Christman, Jennifer (Ben) Constante, Neil (Sarah) Christman; grandchildren, Dominic, Natalie, and Kaitlyn; siblings, Barbara (Paul) Kane, Dale (I-Fang), Marty (Leslie), and Dennis (Deb) Christman.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday July 3 at The Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd, Akron, OH 44312 at 2 PM, Pastor Butch Pursley officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 2nd at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 from 5 to 7 PM.
