Barbara Christian

Barbara (Babs) Marie Christian (nee Harman), 89, died October 4, 2023 peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer.
Barbara was born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 15, 1933 to the late Willis and Estelle (nee Murray) Harman, but spent her growing up years in Creston, Ohio.
She graduated from Creston High School in 1951 and went on to Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA where she graduated with a degree in Psychology. Upon graduation she continued her education at Kent State University acquiring a certificate in Education and taught 3rd grade in Seville, Ohio from 1955-1960.
On July 27, 1957, Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Bill Christian. In 1960, Bill and Barb moved to North Hill in Akron, Ohio, where they raised their 3 daughters.  After moving to Akron, Barbara did substitute teaching for a couple of years. She went to The University of Akron to get certified in Special Education and was a Special Education Tutor for 20 years at Harris Elementary School on North Hill. She retired in 1993. 
Barbara was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish (formally Saint Martha) in Akron and sang in the church choir. She and her husband enjoyed road trips and cruising. As snowbirds, they spent 23 winters in Citrus Park in Bonita Springs, Florida where Babs sang in the Bells of Harmony, a ladies barbershop group. 
Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Peggy Ciraldo, sister Kay Wollitz, and brothers-in-law Chuck Wollitz and J.C. Castile. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Christian, daughters and sons-in-law Terri and Mike Bullock, Mary Beth and Tom Lemke, her grandchildren Emily (Alex), Maggie (Brian), Val, Hannah (Ryon), Anna, Joe and Veronica, her four great-grandchildren Ian, Wyatt, Samantha and Ella, her sister Donna Castile, and a loving extended family. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Monday, October 9, 2023 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 East Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44310, with Rev. Father Joseph Warner Officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2023, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 North Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44310.  Barbara's final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
