Bennie D. Segers

Bennie D. Segers, 93, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Bennie was born Friday, October 3, 1930 in Cullman, Alabama to the late Youlie and Gertrude (Shoemaker) Segers and lived in the Akron area most of his life and was a 1948 graduate of Akron South High School.
He retired as President of The R.C. Musson Rubber Co. in December of 2003 after 53 years of service, but continued to come into the office and served on the company board another 12 years.  He was also a trustee for The R.C. Musson & Katharine M. Musson Charitable Foundation for over 30 years. 
Bennie was a longtime member of the Akron Baptist Temple, serving as an usher, Deacon, and Trustee.  He enjoyed spending time with his family including holidays and vacations and loved golfing, bowling, and following Cleveland sports.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Beverly Mae Segers; and brother, Leldon Segers.  He is survived by his daughter, Pam (Frank) Rockhold; sons, Bob (Vicki) Segers, and Bill Segers; grandchildren, Ryan (Andrea) Rockhold, Logan (Eric) Schaefer, Hallie (Dylan) Ball, Abby (Thomas) Shaub, Hannah Segers, Ashlyn Segers, Trent Segers, and Carley (Ben) Cook; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Dwaine Segers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 6:00 pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home (Portage Lakes), 3326 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319, with Pastor Larry Knight Officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home (Portage Lakes).  Bennie's final resting place will be Greenlawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Connect Church, 578 Killian Rd., Akron, OH 44319.
