Bert P. Harper

Bert P. Harper, 90, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022.
Bert was born Sunday, Jan. 3, 1932 to the late Douglas and Edythe (Patton) Harper and lived in the Akron area all his life. He was an honorably discharged Veteran of the US Marine Corps. and served during the Korean War; he was a member of the “Chosin Few” who fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir.  He was a Regional Claims Manager with INA/Cigna for 29 years and was the President of Akron-Canton Claims Manager's Assoc., Chairman of the Akron-Canton Arbitration Comm., and a member of the Cigna President’s Club.
In addition to his parents, Bert is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Gerri" Harper.  He is survived by his son, Terrence “Terry” (Therese) Harper; grandchildren, Shannon (Dan) Lalonde, Stephanie (Joshua) Jones, and Kaitlin Harper; great-grandchildren, Freyja, Saoirse, Elijah, Shannon, Mike, Ben, Molly, and Celia; and many other loving family and friends.
Bert’s Family would like to thank the staff at Barberton Hospital ICU for the extra special care of Bert in his final journey.  Also, thanks to Katie Reischman for her love and support of Bert.
Memorial Service will be Monday, 10:00 am at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, with visitation AFTER the service from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Monday.   Bert's final resting place will be Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Monday at 12:45 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ohio Veterans Memorial Park in Clinton, OH or One of a Kind Pet Rescue in Bert’s name.
