Betty Ruth Blizzard

Betty R. Blizzard, 95, loving mother and grandmother went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Betty was born Saturday, November 13, 1926, to the late Harold and Lucerne (Stump) Frank. She lived most of her life in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Alliance High School and worked as a telephone operator for a few years before devoting her time as a loving mother. Over the years, Betty worked with her family business, Blizzard Trophies, and volunteered at the Haven of Rest and Meals on Wheels. The most important decision Betty made was her acceptance of Our Lord and Savior in her early years with her late husband, Jack. Betty was a faithful member of Springfield Baptist Church where she taught the youth as a Bible schoolteacher for decades. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Betty is now reunited with her husband, Jack Blizzard; son, Robert Blizzard; and siblings, Bob, Dick, and Evelyn. She is survived by her daughter, Sandi (James) Memmer; grandchildren, Ashley and Bradley Memmer; longtime friend, Bertie Boughton; “second” daughter, Debbie Dressler, and her loving cats.

Funeral service will be Thursday, August 11, 2022, 12:00 PM, with visitation ONE HOUR PRIOR (11:00 AM), at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home (Portage Lakes), 3326 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44319, with Larry Baldridge Officiating. Betty’s final resting place will be Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastgate Alliance Church, 350 Hilbish Ave., Akron, OH 44312, or Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Rd, Akron, OH 44312.

Su ch a sweet lady. I enjoyed talking and joking with her when I worked at the trophy shop. Sometimes I called her "Mom". I think she got a kick out of that. She will be missed!

Betty was always so kind. I had the privilege to stay with her at times. I also worked at the shop and yes Betty's lasagna was great. She made a fantastic peach cobbler too! Teaching was a real gift of hers, I learned so much from her. She's at peace , I'll miss you dear.

I've known Betty since 1991 and have always counted her as a friend. I worked for.Jack, was friends with Bob for over 30 years, and spent lots of time at Betty's house. I.am sad this day has come but I am thankful for decades of friendship and her fussing over me. She was a dear lady to me.

Mrs Blizzard was always so wonderful to me as a kid who was always at her house playing with Sandi🥰 What a wonderful blessing that Sandi got to have her mother for so many years.❤️

I worked for Blizzard Trophies 33yrs Betty would make her famous Lasagna and bring it for lunch. We all loved it, after the business closed we would visit her and Bob at their home. After Bob passed we would take lunch and visit with Betty, we also visited her at the nursing home. We took her favorite deserts to the nursing home. She had a personal concert 🎶 by Adam Cord at the nursing home, he made her very happy. RIP Betty! As Always, Alice and Ona

Ms Blizzard was always so very nice to me when I grew up in the neighborhood. I would often come to her home to play with Bob who was my same age, exactly. I visited Blizzard Trophies when I was in the Soap Box Derby. My Sincere Condolences, Gary Miller
