Betty J. Bodo

Betty J. Bodo, 93, went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2019. She was born June 1, 1925 in Norton, Ohio to George and Ruth Stump and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1943, but her heart was with her friends in Norton where she grew up. She was a faithful member of Goss Memorial Church where she and her family attended for over 50 years. She later moved to Lexington, Ohio after her husband’s death and attended United Methodist Church of the Cross for over 30 years. Betty will always be remembered for her warm and giving spirit. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years William, and leaves behind her children; Beverly (Gary) Piper, Bonnie Bodo, Barbara (Randy) Turpin, Billie (William) Wihebrink, Jr., Bruce Bodo; grandchildren, Matthew (Julie) Piper, Daniel (Milca) Piper, Nathan (Kyrsten) Turpin; brother, Lloyd Stump; sister-in-law, Susann Bodo; great-grandchildren, Mia, Adalai; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Mansfield Place staff for their loving care of our mother.

Private graveside services have taken place at Emmanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goss Memorial Church 2247 11th St. SW, Akron, Ohio 44314 in memory of Betty.

Hi Diane, Thank you for caring so much after all these years to send a condolence. It really means a lot to me.

Deepest sympathies to the Bodo family.
I have fond memories of the Silver Creek area and graduated from Norton High with Billie...

Thanks Diane, I remember your name and appreciate your sharing. We had a small private service and the sun was shining but it was oh so cold. We believe to be "absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" for all those with a saving faith in Christ. As a single lady I plan to be buried in the same place when its my time to depart even though I have not lived there for about 45 years. My roots are there on Medina Line Rd. and the Sherman area. Pastor Bud Couts and the Bacher funeral home served us very well.
