Betty Louise (Weaver) Manda went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2021. As one who loved the thrill of Christmas and lots of gifts it seems only fitting that this Christmas is a home going rather than a time when she would not even be able to enjoy her earthly gifts.
Betty was the second of 7 children born to Thelma (Shultz) and Cloyd Weaver. She was born in Saxton, PA on Jan. 14, 1929. After moving around a bit, she spent most of her adult life in the Portage Lakes area of Akron, Ohio. For the past several years she resided at The Arbors of Fairlawn. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff for their loving care offered to ‘Miss Betty’ in the red shoes that was always “finer than frog hair split four ways.”
As a member of the former Akron Baptist Temple, she enjoyed spending her Sundays worshipping alongside her Aunt Florence and Uncle Orbie Hess and Cousin Larry.
Travel and shopping for bargains topped her list of fun things to do! She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband or her sisters and her granddaughter, Laura. If the sun was shining, that is where she wanted to be. She spent many years working with her husband at Manda’s Fishing Tackle where countless friendships were formed with customers and associates of the business. She was also very enterprising making things like Christmas wreath pins which she sold to everyone who came in the door! Everyone loved Betty!
Betty is survived by two daughters, Joy Manda and Bettyo (Tom) Andrews; 3 grandchildren, Laura (Josh) Witham, Evan (Jessica) Andrews, and Neal Andrews; and a great grandson; as well as two younger sisters, Sandy (Ron) Randles and Gladys Ciarrocca; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; son Robert E. Lee Manda; siblings Phyllis (George) Detwiler, Deanna (Jim) Allison, John “Jack” Weaver and Ken Weaver; and brother-in-law Pete Ciarrocca.
As Jack and Betty are reunited, you can be sure Heaven is brimming with many jokes and harmonizing on old songs.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 2:00 pm, January 4, 2022,at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home (Portage Lakes), 3326 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Visitation will be ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time at the Funeral Home. Betty's final resting place will be Greenlawn Memorial Park.
