Betty Wellock

Betty Jo Wellock passed away on August 5, 2021. She was born April 6, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Cecil and Eulaila Cain. Betty lived in Coventry and Green, Ohio most of her adult life and most recently lived in Bluffton, SC.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, Daniel James Wellock; brother, Richard Cain; nephew, Kerry Cain and niece, Cheryl Merrick. She is survived by sons, Daniel James “Jim” (Francine) Wellock II and Douglas (Darlene) Wellock; daughter, Diana (James) Zelasko; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

As a homemaker, Betty enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, quilting and needlework. She was a member of Lakeview Christian Church in Green, Ohio and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Betty volunteered at Christian Children’s Home of Ohio as part of the “SonShine Servants”. She and her husband, Dan enjoyed camping and traveled extensively throughout the United States. In addition, they were charter members of the “Akron Model T Club” and toured in their 1917 Model T Ford.

Friends may call at Bacher Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. Akron, Ohio 44319 on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a service beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Gindlesberger officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio, 2685 Armstrong Rd. Wooster, OH 44691, in memory of Betty or a charity of your choice.
