Brooklyn Milica Gibson

January 18 – February 19, 2018

After a short 33 days in this world, Brooklyn Milica Gibson was taken to heaven to be in the arms of Jesus at the Akron Children’s Hospital NICU. Though her time on earth was small, she touched many lives and was loved by all.

Born early at 23 weeks and weighing only 1 lb ½ oz., Brooklyn was still able to grasp the fingers and respond to the touch of her loving parents during her brief life. She looked so much like her father, but had the feisty personality of her mother. She was born at 3:10 a.m. on January 18 and died at 1:27 p.m. on February 19th.

Brooklyn joins her great-grandmother, Betty Gibson; her great-aunt, Milica Mrksich; and her great-grandfathers, Dusan Katanic, Norman Steese, Carroll Gibson and Clarence B. Brand, in heaven. She is survived by her father and mother, Erik and Maria Gibson; her grandparents, John and Susan Gibson; her grandparents, Milan and Colleen Katanic; her aunts and uncles, April (Chris) Mertens, Alex (Tracie) Gibson, Deanna (Ben) Nickerson, Daniel (Rebecca) Katanic, and Kristina Katanic; and her cousins, Brianna and Katherina Schnardthorst, Zoey Gibson, and Gabriel and Joshua Katanic.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, NORTON on Friday, February 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. A private family service will be held on Saturday.

Private interment at Copley Township Cemetery in Copley, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Akron Children’s Hospital NICU, One Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308 in Brooklyn’s honor.
