Carol Jane Hrivnak

Carol J. Hrivnak went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, March 11th, 2024. 

Carol was born in Akron, Ohio, to the late Nile and Pearl Ries on December 17th, 1933. She married John Hrivnak on May 23rd, 1959, celebrating 64 years of marriage. Carol’s life was deeply rooted in her faith, and she loved to serve the Lord. 

Throughout their lives together, Carol and John were active members at Grace Bible Church (formerly Manchester Trinity Chapel) for more than 50 years. At her church, Carol was actively involved in women’s ministry; leading Bible study, serving on the kitchen ministry, mission teams, prayer chain, Operation Christmas Child, and various church committees. Carol was also active at the Haven of Rest Ministries, where she volunteered in the kitchen and served on the Women’s Auxiliary Board for almost 30 years. She received the Haven of Rest’s Women’s Auxiliary Woman of the Year Award in 1991. Carol was also involved with PTA and other community organizations. Carol loved spending time with her family and friends, and also loved tending to her flower gardens. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family, but also had a heart to serve others.

Along with her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her brother Robert Ries and sister Shirley Campbell. Carol is survived by her husband John; two sons, James (Pam) Hrivnak and Thomas (Nancy) Hrivnak; three grandchildren, Erin Branfield, Melissa Hrivnak and Hannah Tate; as well as three great-grandchildren, Beckham, Nora and Isla Branfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 15th, 2024, from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44319. Additional calling hours will also be ONE HOUR PRIOR to the service at the church. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 11:00AM, at Grace Bible Church, 5781 Manchester Road, New Franklin, with Pastor Cary Duckett officiating. Graveside service will follow at Manchester Cemetery.
