Carole Ann Egleston, 86, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 with her sons by her side.
Born on Wednesday, February 23, 1938, in Akron, Ohio, Carole was the daughter of the late Cyril and Anna (Babos) Selnik. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1956, and on September 6, 1958, she married Daniel Egleston. Together, they built their home, first in Kenmore and then in Barberton, where Carole lived until 2022.
Carole’s home in Barberton was always a hub of activity, where family, friends, and neighbors found comfort and laughter. On a hot summer day, she could always be found in her pool with her dear sister Stephi or working in the yard with her grandchildren. There was always a seat at her poolside for anyone who happened to stop by, and her house often became the site of impromptu gatherings of relatives from as close as next door and as far away as Florida. Countless cherished memories were made by Carole's hearth with Carole as a gracious hostess.
Carole will also be remembered as a lifelong feminist and fervent union member. For over 30 years, Carole worked as a telephone operator at AT&T. She was a very proud member of her union, the Communications Workers of America. Besides swimming, she also loved gardening, watching Jeopardy, and reading the Sunday comics.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Anna; husband, Daniel; brother-in-law, Harry Hall; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Selnik. She is survived by her sons, Richard (Elizabeth) and James (Michele); siblings, Stephanie Hall and James Selnik; grandchildren, Mason, Madison, Clayton, Logan, Emerson, and Joseph; nieces and nephews Ken, Mike, Juli, Pat, Steve, Laura and Maria; and a wide circle of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at Bacher Moore Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, OH 44309, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Carole Egleston may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
