Carolyn “Nan” Rees, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

She was born in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Hubert and Lenila (O’Donnell) Hovance.
As a lifelong resident of the Portage and Summit County areas, she lived in Mantua, Kent, Akron and Norton, Ohio. Carolyn graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1966 and Kent State University with a degree in math.

She retired from a career at B.F. Goodrich where she worked in information systems, programming and systems analyst.

Carolyn married Robert “Bob” in 1978 and they were active members of Fairlawn Lutheran Church.

Carolyn will best be remembered as “Mrs. Wiz” for her 45+ years as a professional magician, earning accolades as local magician of the year, being featured in Magic Magazine and serving as a judge at national level magic competitions. She was an accomplished musician and pet photographer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenila (O’Donnell) and Hubert Hovance, sister Sharon More-Jacoby; brother, Michael Hovance and nephew Michael Patrick More.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Robert Rees; sisters, Lydene (Danny) Kende of Ravenna; Elise (Ken) Enloe of Florida; nieces, Bridget (Chris) Frederick of Elyria; Stephanie (Phil) Kuhn of Florida; nephews, Tim (Gail) More, Shannon (Jenifer) More, both of Randolph, and Shane More of Madison. She is also survived by mother-in-law, Norma Cope, Dover; sisters-in-law, Peggy Sibila (John), and Shari Strickmaker (Doug), both of Dover; niece, Jackie Luthy and nephew, Brian Strickmaker, also of Dover, OH.

The family will greet friends at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH on Monday, January 24th, 2022 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m.

Due to COVID pandemic, we request that hose attending the service and/or visitation will practice social distancing and wear face masks. If you are unable to attend or do not wish to attend, we understand, your love and prayers will be appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairlawn Lutheran Church c/o Bell choir or the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, Ohio, 44087 in memory of Carolyn Rees.
