Charles William Shaffer, 81, passed away on August 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Preceded in death by parents Gilbert and Marie (Walsh) Shaffer, brothers, Gilbert Shaffer and Ben (Verna) Shaffer, sister, Mary Katherine Shaffer and son-in-law, David Rea, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Garnett June Shaffer, daughters, Kim (Tom) Littman and Kelly Rea, grandchildren, Carrie, Joe, Sam, Kyle, Abby and Ryan (Jessica); great-grandson, Jonathan, brother, Robert (Donna) Shaffer, sister, Reba (Ed) Frankovic, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he lived in the Akron area most of his life. He was a well-respected chef at several Akron area restaurants for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of Northampton Bible Church and a proud sailor in the US Navy. He loved to cook, ride bikes, travel and spend time with his family.
Visitation will be Friday, August 10, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home (936 N. Main St., Akron, Ohio 44310) and on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Northampton Bible Church (333 W. Steels Corners Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223). The funeral services will be Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Northampton Bible Church followed by internment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens (4724 State Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264).
The family would like to share their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful staffs at Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care and Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven of Rest.
