Chester A. Brown
Chester Alvin Brown, 88, passed away on January 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Chet was born April 23, 1929 in Barberton, Ohio to Mabel Leezer and Howard Brown, one of seven children. He was a self-employed home repair contractor known fondly as “Brownie.” Chet was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Barberton and enjoyed his participation with the Portage Lakes Kiwanis. Chet was often found at local breakfast joints hanging out with friends for long breakfasts and enjoyed taking care of his yard, eating a cold bowl of ice cream, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid Cavs fan. Chet was also a proud member of the United States Army and served during the Korean War.
Chet was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Lorraine A. Brown. He is survived by his sons, Stanley and Mark Brown; daughters, Yvonne (Adam) Fisher and Amy (Chris) Mihin; grandchildren, Andrea, Matthew, Austin, Jordan, Jackson, and Marleanna. Chet is also survived by his two eldest children Rebecca Santa and Bonnie Toth and their families; and his sister, Esther (Bonnie) Brown.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home 3326 Manchester Rd. on Sunday, January 14 from 5:30 - 8 p.m., where services will be held on Monday January 15 at 11 a.m., Nathan Robinson officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

God bless Chet. I met Chet at the Monthly lunches with Pete Pappas group. Chet was a pure joy who had story after story about everyone he knew in Akron. We loved him like a brother. He will be remembered years from now. We are so sad for everyone's loss.

Chet was a one of a kind personality who brightened up every room and conversation. His quirky stories and uncanny knowledge of absolutely everything will always be in my memories and I am fortunate to have that. Love you guys.
