David Baker

David Baker, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He was born on Thursday, March 4, 1937 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Harold and Marjorie (Boden) Baker. He was a faithful member of Community Church of Portage Lakes and South Street Ministries. Dave referred to himself as a dyslexic carpenter. He was a builder by trade, building homes, commercial and industrial buildings; and had been the owner|operator of Stow Glen Nursing Facility. Dave was dedicated to the service of God’s people and mission work. He was instrumental in connecting people in ministry to the services and resources to aid their ministry. Dave served on many mission projects both domestic and abroad. He enjoyed hymns, singing, and praising the Lord.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marlene Baker. He is survived by his six children, Kenneth (Deanna) Baker, Paul (Audrey) Baker, Christine (Timothy) Taich, Kathleen (Fred) Murlless, Mary (Ronald) Ostrow, and Todd Baker, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many others who called him father and grandfather.

If desired, donations may be made to Rosedale Community Center, South Street Ministries, Truly Reaching You, Summit Missions, or Community Church of Portage Lakes Missions, in memory of David Baker.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Community Church of Portage Lakes, 3260 Cormany Rd., Akron Ohio 44319. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio.
