David C. McCraw

David "MacDaddy" McCraw, 61, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, March 26, 2023. He was born on Friday, March 16, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Geraldine (Twiggs) McCraw. David joined the U.S. Army in 1981. He served with the 3/92 FA in Special Weapons, having clearance to haul nuclear ammunition for the 8 inch guns. David served in Desert Storm, operating a 911 (tank hauling truck), earning a medal for his service with  the 762 Deuce in Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003/2004. It should be noted that after a serious injury to his wrist, David could have gone home, but he fought with medical staff to get back to his unit, that was still serving down range. David was honorably discharged after 26 years of service.

No veteran cared for his fellow brother and sister veterans more that David McCraw.

David was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Stanis.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ivy; daughters, Rhachelle McCraw and Rhenee Schumaker; brothers, Bill (Cathy) McCraw, Dennis McCraw; sister, Theresa (Tom) Hamm; Papa's grandchildren, Kendra and Devin; and many other loving family and friends.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., Norton, OH 44203 from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 7 p.m. Burial will  be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Seville, OH, with a procession forming at the funeral home at 9 a.m.
