David P. Smith "Uncle Dave"

David P. Smith, 82, went to his Heavenly home to be with the Lord and his family from his earthly home due to declining health on November 17, 2021.

Born on July 4, 1939 in Akron, Ohio, Uncle Dave spent most of his life in Columbus and the past 18 years in Seville. Uncle Dave loved July 4th not only celebrating his birthday but the birth of America. He was a very proud American. Uncle Dave enjoyed drinking Pepsi, recycling cans, Western and WWII movies, White Castle hamburgers, Barberton Chicken, anything sweet, anything blue, but especially spending time with his family.

Uncle Dave had a hearing defect from birth that prevented him from reading and writing; however, it never stopped him from succeeding, working, and living life to the fullest. He worked at Goodwill, Grossman Recycling (28 years missing only 1 day of work), and retiring after 9 years from White Castle at the age of 65. Uncle Dave was an amazing individual and taught all of us so much, especially perseverance, patience, and love for one another.

Uncle Dave is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Katherine (Hamilton) Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim (Jackie), John (Carol); sister, Lillian Walshaw; infant siblings, Walter, George, Ronald and a sister. Mourning Uncle Dave’s loss include nieces, Debbie (Don) Friedrichsen of Seville, Kim (Steve) Fabry of Cuyahoga Falls, Shelly (John) Carper, The Walshaw girls (Kathy, Vicky, Debbie and Sandy) all of Florida; nephews, Bob (Donna) Smith of Orlando FL, Tim (Nancy) Smith of Akron, and Gary (Cindy) Smith of Mogadore; several great nieces and nephews; the Friedrichsen family; his buddy, Val (Dan) Wallace; his extended family and friends including Casa Del Rio, Casa Del Rio Express, Casa Del Mar, Rusty Railz and Sweet Henries; and his Katie Kat.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 20, at 12:00 p.m. at the Bacher Moore Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road in Norton, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service with Chaplin Don Bolich officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
