Dorothy I Floyd passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 98 years of age. She was born July 30, 1922 in Akron. Dorothy was a life-long resident of Norton and active in all things local – the Norton Alumni Association, Norton Historical Society, Friends of the Library, and the Norton Baptist Church.

She volunteered at many Cider Festivals and was a 20+ year volunteer at Stan Hywet. Dorothy regularly attended fitness classes at the Barberton Y and during retirement traveled extensively. She attended Norton schools graduating from NHS in 1940 as valedictorian and completed her degree from the University of Akron later in life. She was a long-time tutor and substitute at Loyal Oak and Norton Elementary and Norton Middle school.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Floyd; and daughter, Pamela Floyd Dudley. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Floyd Wolfe (Allen); granddaughter, Sarah Wolfe Banko (Joshua); and 4 much adored great-grandsons, Caleb, Benjamin, Daniel, and Samuel Banko.

Friends may join the family at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Rd. Akron, Ohio 44320 for a graveside Memorial Service on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Norton Alumni Foundation, PO Box 1333 Norton, OH 44203 or the Christian Benevolent Association, 411 Western Row Rd, Mason, OH 45040.
