Elizabeth A. Long

Elizabeth A. Long, 82, went home to be with the Lord on November 15, 2021. She was born in Barberton, Ohio on November 25, 1938 to the late Edward and Marian Mulhern. Liz was a teacher for 35 years in the Akron Public Schools and served that time in the Kenmore schools. She loved attending church with her husband Jerald, first at Hope United Methodist Church and then The Chapel in Akron. Liz and Jerald enjoyed being snowbirds for 20 years, and loved spending time golfing together. But most of all, Liz treasured her time with her family and grandchildren.

Liz is survived by husband of 60 years, Jerald; daughters, Beth (Brian) Donelan, Amy (Robert) Frechette; grandchildren, Mike (Heather) Donelan, Abby Donelan, Meghan Donelan, Emily (Justin) McCallen, John (Allie) Frechette; and sister, Sally (Bob) Filiatreau.

The Long family wishes to extend a special thanks to Summa Hospice for their loving care of Liz.

Friends may call at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Hope United Methodist Church, 2650 Cory Ave. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:00 am. Robert Frechette officiating. Internment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope United Methodist Church, in memory of Elizabeth.

I went to high school with Liz. She was a beautiful person . I only recently was able to reconnect with her. Did not know she passed away. Only found out about it today. Will miss you Liz. Memory Eternal.

Mrs. Long was my favorite teacher! I had her for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade (she had a split 2nd/3rd grade class that year and I was blessed to get to stay with her!). I cried when I had to go to 4th grade without her! Such a special person and teacher who made a huge impact in my life. Deepest sympathies and many prayers to Mrs. Long's family.
