Emma (Magnani) Kerkesner, 100, went home to be with the Lord March 7, 2009. She is finally together again with her beloved husband, Charles "Bud" Kerkesner. Emma was born in Krebs, OK on Jan. 25, 1909 and moved to Akron with her family as a teen. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and her favorite memory was Sunday dinners of "sewer pipes" and meatballs with her extended family. She worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. for 25 years and was an excellent seamstress. Emma leaves son, Chuck Kerkesner (Donna); daughter, Geri Melester (Malcolm); 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Hensel; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Emma's family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Hospice Care Center and Visiting Nurse Service and Maison Aine'. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 2:00 pm at the HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON. Emma's final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care Center and Visiting Nurse Service.
