Eva Jane Day, age 72, suddenly passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018, after a brief onset of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy (broken heart syndrome).
Although she was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 27, 1946, to Harriet and Roy L. Bruck, her childhood and adulthood were well lived in Akron, Ohio.
After studying drafting at Hower Vocational School, Eva graduated from Central High School in 1964. Upon graduation, she was hired as a draftsman at Winebrenner & Associates. Whereas, that experience served as the catalyst for her 23 year career with the City of Akron Public Utilities Bureau. Eva retired as an engineer tech II and will forever be remembered by her co-workers for her legendary office humor.
Eva's professional success equally matched her personal success.
On December 16, 1972, she married the love of her life, John Carl Day.
Together, they established a loving home in the North Hill district of Akron and devoted their lives to raising their two beautiful daughters, Heather and Heidi.
Eva and John were also blessed with two beloved grandchildren, Lola and Luca.
Eva was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved deeply and unconditionally. She drenched all who crossed her path in love.
Eva is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Heather Day; her mother, Harriet (Hess) Huffman; and her dear friend, Judy (Leidal) Dixon.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Carl Day; her daughter, Heidi Day Hall; her grandchildren, Lola and Luca Hall; her sisters, Janice (Andy) Raynor and Cheryl (Bill) Fleischer; her dear friends, Valerie (Lewis) Mansfield, Susie (Leidal) King and Shawn Needham; and countless other adoring nieces, nephews and friends of all relation.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 N. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44310. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main Street in Akron.
A private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio.
