Evelyn Gertrude Lasalle

Evelyn Lasalle passed away peacefully at 93 on March 4, 2010. She leaves behind her beloved family-children Becky, Kathy, Mike (Robin); grandchildren, Craig (Ken), Wendy (Chris), Matt (Kate), Nick (Patty), Andy (Laci); great-grandchildren Nathan, Conner, Carter and Alex, her brother Arvid Shook, as well as many wonderful friends. Mom was most happy when she was doing or helping someone else. She had many talents. Making beautiful flower arrangements and decorating for the holidays and special occasions are among the list. One of mom's favorite things was cooking wonderful dinners for our family and friends. Anyone who had one of Mom's dinners knows just how special they were and she always had a beautiful table and setting to go with it. In keeping with Mom's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. As Mom requested the family will celebrate her life all together at her favorite place in Florida by the ocean with flowers, sunshine, all our memories and a final toast to Evelyn with her "vodka tonic". Evelyn saved this poem and we felt it was how she would like to be remembered. Afterglow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun Of happy memories that I leave When life is done. The family would like top thank the nurses and aides and staff who cared for her at the Hospice Center and a very special thanks to Katie, Wendy, and Norma from Hospice Visiting Nurse Center who cared for Mom with love, laughter, and kindness this past year. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service at Ridgewood Road.
