George F. Halay Sr., 88, passed away October 31, 2007 after a long illness. Born in Kenmore to the late George and Mary (Bogash) Halay, George lived in Akron all his life. He retired from the Ford Motor Co. in 1981 after 27 years of service, was a member of the Goodyear Model Airplane Club and served the U.S. Army during World War II in both the Pacific and European Theaters. Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by his brothers Mike and Paul Halay. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marjorie; children, Paul (Sharon) Halay, Mary Wortman, George Jr., Dave, Robert (Laura) Halay, Ken Hunter Sue Roszkowski; grandchildren, Tammy, Tonia, Shawn, Carissa, Alexa, Leila, Robert II, April and Scarlett; great-grandsons, Dillon, Ethan Blake and Alex; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, 12 NOON at the HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm and Monday from 10 to 12 NOON on Monday at the funeral home. George's final resting place will be Northlawn Memorial Gardens where military rites will be conducted by Firestone VFW Post 3383.
