Gertrude A. Turner, age 96, was born October 4, 1921 in Akron, Ohio. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend she will surely be missed by her passing on October 3, 2018, an hour short of her 97th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Turner, parents Floyd and Mabel Forrest, brother, Wendall Forrest, brothers and sisters-in-laws: John Sunseri, Helen Alexander, Jack and Edith Turner, Jack and Doris Humbert, Bill and Doris Turner, and Peggy Forrest.
Gertrude graduated from North High School as the valedictorian in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart Bob, on May 14, 1943. They resided in Cuyahoga Falls where they raised their children, son Dr. Tom Turner (Debbie) and Jennifer Douglas (Bill). After retirement they were happy snowbirds in Punta Gorda, Florida. They loved to travel, boat, and water ski with their family and friends, especially her sister Sue and husband John Sunseri and the Hutchison family. Spending lots of time with their grandchildren Dr. Bronlynn Eberhardt (Kyle), Dr. Grant Turner (Kristen), Kimberly Csepe (David), and Kathryn Benedetto (Anthony), and great grandchildren Logan, Colbie, and Luke Eberhardt and Aubrynn Csepe was a priority for Gertrude and Bob. She was the only aunt remaining for her dearly loved nieces and nephews and their families and hosted an annual Christmas Tea so we could all be together.
An energetic and accomplished woman, Gertrude was always busy with her job as the manager of the East Ohio Gas Company Federal Credit Union, the Family of Faith Methodist Church, the Zonta ABC Club for professional women, and many other organizations that benefited from her support.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Bath Manor Nursing Home and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for all the kindness and care given to Gertrude at the end of her life.
Funeral Service will be Monday, 11:00 am at Family of Faith Methodist Church, 800 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am at the church on Monday. Gertrude's final resting place will be Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harvest Home/Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
