Grace Elizabeth Curtis, 90, passed away on October 28, 2021. She was born April 28. 1931 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to the late Charles and Lillian (Murphy) Matthews. Visiting in Akron when she was 16, she met her future husband, Bill. They married 2 years later. They raised their family in Akron, and she became a citizen in 1982.
Grace was treasurer of her church for many years and an accountant at Akron City Hospital. She loved numbers and math.
Family was the most important thing in Grace’s life. She always found ways to get the family together, from picnics in the park to camping excursions and trips home to Canada. She loved family card games and being with her children and grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, William Curtis; and children, Diane and Greg; son-in-law, David Fox; and grandchild, John Paul Curtis. She is survived by her daughter, Sandie Fox; son, Scott (Marcia) Curtis; grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew) Brooks, Heather (Christopher) Barringer, Stephanie (Patrick) Haughey, Benjamin (Abby) Curtis, Daniel (Cayla) Curtis, Michelle (Caleb) Saylor, Sarah Curtis; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Reese Barringer, Levi Haughey and Grayson Curtis.
If desired, donations may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 East Market St., Akron, OH 44308, in memory of Grace Curtis.
Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
