Harry H. Hakenson

On this date 8/9/23 Harry Hakenson departed this earthly abode and went to the mystical home of all Norseman “VALHALLA”. Although a second generation Swede from Sweden he loved going back and visiting all his cousins and the family homestead, which remains in the family to this day. The homestead is located in a small town of Morrum located in the southern part of Sweden.

For over 30 years Harry proudly served as a police officer for the City of Akron. He was also a member of the Akron Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) both active and retired for over 50 years. In addition, he held offices in the Police Benevolent and Akron Police Credit Union. His love for motorcycles led him to become President of the Blue Knights, Akron Chapter 7, for over 20 years and a motorcycle Instructor for the State of Ohio. In retirement, Harry and Florence loved to travel on their Honda Goldwing, along with many friends, visiting almost every state and Canada.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 72 years, Florence, their infant baby girl, son-in-law Bill Dye, granddaughter Kimberly Dye, his parents Ernest & Frances, In-laws, Erdman & Alice Blum, sisters-in-law, Betty & William Moore, Helen & Donald Wolfe. Leaving behind to honor his memory are his children, Gary (Jennifer) Andrus, Craig (Michele) Hakenson, Pamela Dye and Harry Hakenson Jr.; grandchildren, Kathy (Jeff) Russo, Gary J. Andrus, Tracy Dye, Cole and Ashlyn Hakenson; great-grandchildren, Anthony Russo, Nicholas Russo, and Kimmy Dye.
