James "Chig" Coleman

James "Chig" Coleman, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Chig was born on Saturday, January 28, 1939 in Wolfpit, Kentucky to the late Willie and Sally (Thacker) Coleman. He was a long-time faithful member of True Vine Old Regular Baptist Church. He was the youngest of 16 siblings, worked at Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Chig was the best checkers player ever known, loved his family, especially playing with the kids for hours at a time. And of course, he knew all about the Blue People of Kentucky and wanted everyone to know about them.

Along with his parents, Chig is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Kathleen; brothers, Lanta, Arnold, Charlie, Opie, Willie "Bill", Paul, John H., and Tom Coleman; sisters, Alafair Coleman, Wanda Hylton, Pearl Coleman, and Mandy "Blue" Adkins;  He is survived by his two daughters, Sheila (Dale) Cross, Melissa (Cecil) Farmer; son, Greg Coleman; five grandchildren, Melany Hamilton, Andrew (Becca) Farmer, Luke (Cheyenne) Farmer, Rebekah (Jacob) Copelin, Derek (Gabrielle) Peck; four great-grandchildren, Harleigh Hamilton, Ian Farmer, Daniel Hamilton, Emersyn Copelin and another on the way with Grace Peck soon to be born; sisters-in-law, Faith Coleman and Carlene Scott and many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Friday, April 29, 2022 at True Vine Old Regular Baptist Church, 7982 South Cleveland-Massillon Road, Clinton, Ohio 44216, with Dennis Elkins, officiant. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service and on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm all at the church. Chig's final resting place will be Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, Ohio with assistance from Pall Bearers Greg, Cecil, Dale, Andrew, Luke, Mark, Mike, and Derek.
