James M. "Mike" Perkins

James M. "Mike" Perkins, 75, of New Franklin, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, January 15, 2024, and is now with his Lord and Savior.

Mike was born May 1, 1948 to the late Victor and Vera (Metz) Perkins in Calhoun County, West Virginia. He was a welder at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio where he retired after 30 years of service. He was also a U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea.

Mike liked being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He especially looked forward to deer season each year in West Virginia, where he would spend time with close family. He was creative and thought of clever ways to accomplish tasks. He enjoyed driving trucks and working around his house on his John Deere tractor.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Perkins, brother, David Perkins, and sister, Joyce Carter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; daughters, Julie (Caine) Collins, Amy (Scott) Foltz; granddaughters, Emma and Abigail Collins, Jenna, Kylie, Lainey, and Macie Foltz; sisters-in-law, Glenna Perkins, Dorothy Perkins; many special nieces and nephews who considered him their “fun uncle”; and several close friends.

Visitation will be Monday, January 22, 2024, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, OH 44203. A Funeral Service will follow at NOON at the funeral home, with Pastor Daryl Paris officiating. Mike’s final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
