James C. Smith, 74, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 26, 2007. Born in Akron to the late James and Julia (Perko) Smith, James has lived in the Tallmadge area most of his life. He was a member of St. Martha and Our Lady of Victory parishes and served in the US Army during the Korean War. James also was owner/operator of a medical lab in Ravenna, worked for the Ford Motor Co. for over 20 years, had a Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University and was a member of the Ravenna Kiwanis Club. James is survived by his sons, Greg, Robert (Kathy), Daniel, Jeffery (Lori) and Gary (Dana) Smith; grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Nicole, Brittany, Christopher, Kayla and Hunter; sister, Julie (Charles) Cobb; brothers, Donald (Violet) and Patrick (Dottie) Smith; and a host of other loving family and friends. The Smith Family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Maison Aine for all of their specialized care and concern. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 12 noon at HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON. Visitation will be ONE HOUR PRIOR TO SERVICE TIME on Tuesday at the funeral home. James' final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery were military will be conducted by American Legion, Charles Faust Post 281.
