James F (Jim) Swan

James F. (Jim) Swan, 74, passed away April 3 2021.  He was born on Jan. 7, 1947 in Uniontown, PA to Robert and Jean Swan, who, along with his in-laws, Michael and Jennie Cardina, and his daughter-in-law, Amanda Swan, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Elaine; son Dale (Adriann); daughter Danielle (Mike); grandchildren Laila, Mason, Lorelei, Logan, Ella, and MJ; brothers Bob (Tomoko), Ed (Linda) and Bill (Fran); and brother-in-law and sister-in law Dave and Rosemary Cardina, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
He was a 1964 graduate of R. B. Chamberlin High School in Twinsburg, Ohio, where he excelled in track and cross-country. He was also the drum major for the band, a position he said he held because he was the only one who could fit into the uniform!
He served his country in the Army, and was a Vietnam veteran (1966-1967).
Jim was a quiet, unassuming soul, and was the go-to guy in the neighborhood for any tool or help that was needed. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and was a previous member of the Corsair Model Aircraft Club.
He was a Journeyman electrician by trade, but was also skilled at woodworking projects. In watching his dad, Dale knew at an early age that he wanted to be a carpenter, and Jim was very proud that he achieved that goal.
Jim’s passion was his faith, his family and his friends, and along with those was his passion for music. He faithfully shared his gift at Blessed Trinity Parish, and was especially happy when selecting the music for and directing the Christmas concerts at the church. He also loved his time spent with the Goodyear Singers, and more recently with the Peace Together Choir. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council #3529.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 East Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, with Rev. Father Joseph Warner, Celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron (corner of N.
