Jasper Samuel LaRose

Jasper S. LaRose, who was born July 29, 1942, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, after a long illness. He was surrounded by loving family and friends.  During his dying days, he said many times “look at all the people who love me.”  This was very true.  He was cherished and loved by a large extended family as well as many friends.   

 

Jasper was born and raised in Akron, Ohio.  He first met his wife, Adelaide Tullio, when they were in kindergarten at Harris Grade School and they continued through Jennings Junior High and graduated from North High School in 1961.  They began dating in their senior year and married in 1964.  Jasper served in the Army Reserves 2291st Evacuation Hospital Unit.  He served for six years and was honorably discharged. He was an avid golfer and was on the Golf Team at North High School. He worked at the Highlander Golf Range, driving a cart to pick up balls, from the age of twelve.  He would hitchhike to Portage and Fairlawn Country Clubs to caddy.   He was Club Champion at Valley Golf Course two years in a row.  Jasper continued working at Highlander Golf Range to pay his way through Akron Beauty School and was a hairdresser for 50 years.  He won state and national awards while in school and after.  He and his lifetime friend, James Vardon, opened a beauty salon, LaBella Donna, on Frank Boulevard in West Akron and were in business together for 36 years.  Jasper, Adelaide and Jim went through school together and in 1960, Jim’s girlfriend, Judy, joined us.  They remain loving friends to this day.  Jasper loved his cars and washing and waxing them.  He loved traveling with his family and went on many trips and cruises.  

 

Jasper was a kind and loving person, and everyone humored him by laughing at his jokes that we heard over and over through the years!   He loved golf and playing poker at all the family gatherings.  (The hours spent at these gatherings were greatly extended once they discovered poker).   He loved his family so much and when the twins, Allison and Andrew, were born his whole life changed.  They could not have done more or shown more love for him during his life.  They, along with his “beautiful” wife, were everything. 

 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Josephine LaRose. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Adelaide (Tullio) LaRose; his daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Ray Dunkle; twin grandchildren, Allison and Andrew, and Andrew’s wife, Amelia Wilson. Sister, Cathy Beer, sister-in-law, Antoinnette (Toni) Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. 

 

We would like to thank the staff at DaVita Dialysis for their loving care of Jasper for four years.  We would also like to acknowledge his friend of many years, John Ramsey (and his wife, Sandy) for their support and love; Scott Abell, a dear friend, who Jasper called “my hero”, for all he did for us over the years.   

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44310, with Father Joseph Warner Officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2023, 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, April 29, 2023, 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 North Main Street, Akron, Oh 44310.  Jasper’s final resting place will be Rose Hill Burial Park. 

 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blessed Trinity Parish, 300 E. Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, OH  44310.
