Oma Jean Geitgey, 84, went home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2021. She was born September 7, 1936 in Beauty, KY to the late John and Mae Hobbs. Jean retired from Wadsworth City Schools as a cafeteria worker. She will be remembered as being a good cook and for her enjoyment of reading. Jean loved her Lord and was very active at Fellowship Baptist Church, in Wadsworth.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don, Columbus and Arthur; and sisters, Pauline and Betty.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James; daughters, Sherry (Danny) Murphy and Debbie (Mark) Ocheltree; grandchildren, Angela (Heath), Bethany (Brett), Daniel (Sarah), Andrew (Markie) Johnmark (Heather), Melissa (Daniel), and Emily; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Adam, Maggie, Gabe, Lauren, Liam, Logan, Lydia, Elliot, Finn, Mason, Cody, Tessa, Boston, Titan, Samson, Myalynn; sister, Barbara Farmer; and very best friend of 50 years, Sherry Roberts.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Altercare of Wadsworth for the special care shown to Jean while in their care.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. A private funeral service will be held. Interment at Rittman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fellowship Baptist church, Missionary Fund, P.O. Box 209, 5026 Ridge Rd., Wadsworth, Ohio 44282-0209 in memory of Jean Geitgey.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks must be worn at all times and social distancing practiced.
