Jean Hay (Petroski), 103 passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends August 5, 2021.
Jean was born in Akron, Ohio October 13, 1917 to the late John and Anna Petroski. She graduated from North High School in 1934 at the age of 16. She married her husband Alfred on April 21, 1943 while he was serving in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Jean was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church (now Blessed Trinity) in Akron for over 70 years. She was a Boy Scout leader, belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, Columbian Guild, and a member of Akron Blind Society. The thing she loved most was time spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, her son Robert, her brother Henry, and her sister Stella. Jean is survived by her daughters Maryann Hay, Marjorie (Gary) Hanley, Patricia Sears, grandchildren Michael Hay, Brian (Nicole) Sears, Kevin (Rachael) Sears, great grandchildren Addison Sears, Cooper Sears, and Tayler Hay along with two great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
A special thanks to her compassionate caregiving team.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 11:00 am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 East Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44310 with Rev. Father Joseph Warner, Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday at the church, ONE HOUR PRIOR to the Mass. Jean's final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Jean’s honor to Blessed Trinity Church, Crossroads Hospice or a charity of your choice.
