Jo Ellen Jordan

Jo Ellen Jordan of Rittman, aged 56, passed into the hands of the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2020 after a prolonged illness.

She was born Jo Ellen Engle on January 13, 1964 in Akron, Ohio to Elmer Lee Engle Jr. and Freda (Hall) Engle. She moved to Rittman in 1974, after marrying her husband Kevin Jordan on April 16, 1984, she lived with him near Fort Lewis, WA, where he was stationed. After returning to Rittman, they raised a son, Erik and daughter, Shannon.

Though ill for many years, Jo found the strength to be a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her natural personality and her life’s troubles, along with the special needs of her children, made her very sensitive to the suffering and feelings of others. This helped shape her beliefs regarding family and her personal relationship with God.

She was practical and intelligent, managing the family’s affairs and organizing tasks through extensive note taking.

It was Jo’s belief that family always came above her own needs and wants, with Jo dedicating the whole of her being to them with determination and love.

This exemplified every action; from her forgiveness of transgressions, to smacking a raccoon with a broom to protect the family pet, to even her final wishes.

Her hobbies included collecting rubber stamps, making homemade greeting cards, reading books, and solving sudoku puzzles.

Jo was preceded in death by her father, Elmer; mother, Freda; sister, Pattie Engle and daughter, Shannon.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin and son, Erik.

There will be a private service at Jo’s request.
