John Harlan Steele

John Harlan Steele, age 60, passed peacefully on January 11 after complications from heart surgery.  John is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Alice Steele.

To know John was to love John. He had many wonderful friends and family members that are heartbroken by his passing. John had an incredible love for music, motorcycles, cars, fine bourbon and good craft beers. John was the ideal teammate for music trivia.  He knew music trivia that made you ask....how and why do you know that?

John leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Carol, stepdaughter, Brandi (Derrick) Gingras; sister, Sue (Terry) Rake; sisters-in-law, Jodi (Jerry) Reymann, Sharon (David) Williamson; grandchildren, Alexis and Samantha Gingras; nieces, Emily and Leah Rake and nephew, Jacob Rake. He also leaves behind many friends including a tight-knit group of childhood friends in Tiffin, Ohio.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held at a time more appropriate for social gatherings. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Cleveland Clinic involved with John's loving care and support.

Donations can be made in John’s memory to The American Heart Association by calling 1-800-AHA-USA1 or on their website at www2.heart.org.

Carol, I can't express how sorry I am on seeing the passing of your husband John. I've been thinking so much about your Mom with it only being a year since her passing. My prayers go out for you and your family.

John will be missed by many. We spent many an hour together, talking about everything but work (music, politics, grandkids, college, travel and much more). I'll miss his memory for random details, and his sense of humor.

Carol, we are so sorry and shocked to see that John has passed. Although we did not know him very well, it was obvious from the few times we were with the two of you, that he was a very special, one of a kind guy. We will never forget the motorcycle ride thru the Peninsula followed by the brewery for dinner and beers. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this time.
