Linda Sue Blaz

Linda Rex Blaz, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Linda was born Thursday, March 10, 1938 at Barberton Citizens Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Frances L. Rex who was Director of Women's Activities of the Summit County Republican Party for many years; her father, Leroy H. Rex, who worked at the B.F. Goodrich International Division for over 45 years; and her granddaughter, Julia. 

Linda is survived by her daughter, Cherie L. Smith; and granddaughters, Megan, Grace, Breanne, Anna, Hanna, and Amanda.

Linda and her parents were active in Hope United Methodist Church before moving to Manchester, Ohio. Linda graduated from Manchester High School, received her BA Degree from Kent State University, and her MSW from the University of West Virginia. She was employed as a Social Worker in the Juvenile Court, Orange County, California; California State Mental Hospital, Norwalk, CA; Ohio State Mental Hospital, Columbus, Ohio; Stark County Mental Health Center, Dover, Ohio; Child Custody Investigator at the Summit County Domestic Relations Court; Probation Officer both at Municipal and Common Pleas Courts in Akron; and worked at Akron General Medical Center for 11 years.

In addition after moving to Ocala, she was employed for 4 years at the Oakhurst Nursing and Rehab Center, and then worked at a variety of social work positions until she retired in the summer of 2016.
