M. Joyce Pickering

M. Joyce Pickering, 90, of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Akron, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born on June 1, 1933, in Akron, Ohio.

Joyce was a devoted wife to her husband of 38 years, Robert M. Pickering; loving mother of Karen Redell and Bob Pickering; and a dear grandmother of Megan Redell and Kendall Pickering. She is survived by Karen and Megan Redell.  

Joyce grew up in Akron, Ohio and attended North High School where she dated her husband, Robert, prior to her graduation in January 1951. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Akron University in 1956. On April 12, 1958 Joyce married Robert at North Hill Methodist Church. 

Joyce lived life to the fullest every day. She was devoted to her family.  She enjoyed sports, either as a participant, cheerleader in high school, or avid fan. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling. Joyce was spirited, adventurous, and fun-loving. She felt “laughter is the vitality of life” and laughed often. Joyce will be loved always and missed deeply.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, with a Service at 1:30 PM, at Hennessy Bagnoli Moore Funeral Home, 936 North Main Street, Akron, OH 44310. The burial is immediately following at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
