Mary Lou Usery White, 90, of Akron, Ohio and formerly of Venice, Florida died March 26, 2024. She was born May 30, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to parents Bryan and Mary Ann Thomas Usery. Mary Lou retired as a professor from Wright State University and later developed and operated Book Adventures, Inc, a literary tour company. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas E. White and is survived by good friend, Charles Gieselman, and many close cousins.
Mary Lou was an exceptionally intelligent and an exciting woman; she saw the world as her oyster and enjoyed life to the fullest. In 2006, she took six cousins on a family ancestral tour of England and Wales. She loved her family and made a point to attend as many family gatherings as possible.
In 2017, Mary Lou returned to Akron due to her vascular dementia condition. She fought a long and dignified battle with this disease and left this earth peacefully. She will be missed for sure, but she will be remembered with joyful thoughts.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorials in Mary Lou’s honor are to enjoy a sunny day, smell all the flowers you can and read a good book.
