Michiyo Wintermyer

Michiyo (Mihata) Wintermyer, 86, born January 17, 1933 in Moji, Japan, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019.

In Saitozaki, Japan, while walking along a dirt path, she met the love of her life, George Wintermyer. They married, moved to the U.S. and finally settled in Lakewood,Ohio where she enjoyed raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow. Michiyo was an accomplished wife, mother, seamstress, and well known for her culinary skills. Together, she and her husband George spent the last 8 years in the Portage Lakes area. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. Michiyo is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, George Wintermyer; son, John (Antionette) Wintermyer; daughters, Wanda (Darel) Schartman, Irene Wintermyer, Cathy (Eric) Bacher, Barbara (Phil) Karayan, Sandy Boggs; grandchildren, Jodi (Ryan) Modica, Melissa (Ian) Downey, Donald (April) Schartman, David Wintermyer, Joshua Wintermyer, Daniel Boggs, Abigail Bacher, Hannah Karayan; great grandchildren, Tyler Cehelnik, Noah Schartman.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd, Akron on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. Private burial at the family’s convenience at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
