Nellie Louise Williams nee Bramer born July 3, 1914 on Grass Run in Harrison County , West Virginia , died March 25, 2008 in Akron , Ohio where she had been living since 2002 after living in Grafton , WV for fifty-nine years. She was the daughter and oldest child of Okey J. Sr. and Anna Belle Bramer and the wife of Lawrence E. Williams, all of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her 3 brothers: Wade Bramer, Okey J. Bramer, Jr. and Roy Bramer and brother in law, Kenneth Hammitt. Nellie is survived by her 2 daughters Susan (Robert) Lockwood of Radford, Va. and Rev. Joyce A. (Charles) Fast of Akron, OH, 6 grandchildren: Charles (Susan) Fast (Derek, Kegan, McKenna), John (Tracy) Fast (John Jr., Jordan and James), Carrie (Tim) Morrison (Gavin), all of Akron, Ohio, Lisa (Chris) Owens (Holden and Ethan) of Blanchester, OH, Joel (Liz) Vengrin (Charlotte and Miles) and Allison Vengrin of Brooklyn, NY. She also is survived by her sisters Helen (Herschel) Jones of Glenville, WVA, Mariolive (Paul) Cummings and Martha Hammitt, all of Harrison County, WVA, Mildred Winters of Corona, CA, sister in law, Nancy (Donald A.) Wagner of Grafton, WVA, and many nieces and nephews. Nellie was a hardworking homemaker who volunteered in PTA, Church, and Politics. She was a gifted seamstress with the ability to make anything from hundreds of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls which were sold and gifted all over the world to evening gowns and doll baby clothes. She liked to do the finest needlecraft and everything between that and making beautiful quilts. Nellie was a delicious cook and was known for her wonderful pound cakes which she gifted to many, many people. She had a green thumb and could rescue any plant. People took her their dying plants for her to save. Nellie had beautiful gardens - flower and vegetable. She grew picture perfect tomatoes and her flowers were appreciated by everyone. Nellie loved playing Canasta and Scrabble. She loved spending time in nature, not only working in her gardens but also taking walks and studying the birds. But most of all she loved her daughters. She made sure that they understood the importance of education both in the classroom and out and made sure they both knew how to play the piano as well as read and climb trees and most importantly, raised them in the church so they, too, would have a relationship with God. Nellie loved God and His Word. Her favorite Bible passage was 1 Corinthians 13. The family would like to express appreciation to those who cared for her on the 2nd floor at Manor Care, West Akron, and Hospice for their care. Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service at Marshville in Harrison County , WVA On her 94th birthday, July 3, 2008 . In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 301, Akron, Ohio 44313.
