Rev. Lanny C. Akers

Reverend Lanny C. Akers, 86, was absent from the body and present with the Lord on January 22, 2023.

Rev. Akers graduated from Bob Jones University and The University of Akron. Upon graduation, he taught at Christian Schools and pastored churches. Most recently, he served as vice president of Union Gospel Press, from which he retired in 2015.
Dedicated to his family, Rev. Akers raised three teenagers and an infant after his beloved wife, Beverly, passed away in her early forties. He remained involved in the lives of his children and their families as well as the many people he befriended and to whom he ministered. He lived a life of love and service to others.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, who passed away in 1978, and his daughters, Rebecca Akers (Mark Axinn) and Bethany Moncada (Daniel). Larry Akers, his twin brother, and Ruth Geraldine Akers, his sister, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Mark Akers (Carol), Matthew Akers (Elisabeth), six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a nephew, nieces, and cousins.

Rev. Akers loved Scripture, and a favorite verse was 1 Corinthians 15:58, which summarizes his life well: "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

At the convenience of the family, private services will be held at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home. Temporary resting place is Greenlawn Memorial Park.
