Robert James Desharnais Jr.

Robert Desharnais Jr., 66, loving father and grandfather, joined his loving wife on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Robert was born Monday, April 8, 1957 to the late Robert and Nancy (Downes) Desharnais. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for over 30 years, 1986-2016, as the Chief of police towards his final years with the department. Robert was a dedicated supporter of several charities and organizations. He was honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force after eight years of dutiful service, 1975-1983. Robert loved watching Notre Dame football. He was a caring and loving grandfather who never forgot a birthday.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife and soul mate, Loretta Desharnais, daughter, Elizabeth Desharnais, sister, Laureen Reilly. He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Caitlin) Desharnais; daughters, Christina (Paul) Russell, Frances Pasquarosa-Smith; grandchildren, Skylar Desharnais, Kaidence Howard, Jaxson Desharnais, Delilah Slemp, Derrick Desharnais, Justyce Smith, Christopher Smith, Patience Smith, Terrance Smith; brothers, Ronnie (Vickie) Desharnais, Raymond Desharnais, Ricky Desharnais, Vincent Desharnais; sisters, Anne (Doug) Wright, Fran (Tara) Desharnais;  and many other loving family and friends.

Robert's final resting place will be Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where he will be joined with his loving wife, Loretta, and darling daughter, Liza.
