Robert "Bob" L. Henterly Robert "Bob" L. Henterly, 81, passed away on April 25, 2009 after a long illness. Born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Willis W. and Clara M. (O'Harra) Henterly of Lancaster, Ohio, Bob was the sixth of seven sons born. He moved with his family to North Hill in Akron when he was five and continued to live in the family home for the rest of his life. He attended St. Martha's and Jennings Elementary Schools and graduated from North High School, where he followed his brothers as a champion cross country runner, earning him the nickname, "Rabbit". Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation and served as part of the occupation forces in Japan shortly after World War II. After his military service, Bob held a variety of jobs and at one time owned three gas stations. Bob loved to read, travel, and listen to Classical music. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and his grandfather, Nathaniel, who served in the Civil War. Bob was a real character with a gentle soul. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill, Jim, Dick, and Paul; and special pets, Ching and Buddy. He is survived by brothers, Jack (Barbara), and Ted (Shirley); sister-in-laws, Marian (Jim), Betty (Dick), Marianne (Paul); long-time companion, Rose-marie Foord; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may call at Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 936 N. Main Street, Akron, Ohio, Monday, from 5 to 8 pm. Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass at 10 am, on Tuesday, April 28, at St. Martha's Church, 300 Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44310. Interment will follow at 3 pm in St. Mary Cemetery, 1500 South Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio.
