Rosemarie Alice Foord

Rosemarie Alice Foord, 78, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Rosemarie was born on Jan. 9, 1944 to George H. and Helen (Luckl) Foord in Akron, Ohio where she lived all her life.  She graduated from Akron East High School, University of Akron (BA) and Case Western Reserve University (Master’s Degree in Library Science).  She began working at the Akron Summit County Public Library in 1962 as a “page” and retired 33 years later as manager of the North Hill Branch.

Rosemarie enjoyed her career as a librarian and made many lifelong friends among staff and patrons.  She was an enthusiastic genealogist and was able to trace her family lines in England and Hungary back for many generations.  She loved to read and do word puzzles, travel, garden and visit with family and friends.

Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents; sister. Helen C. Helton; nieces, Jeanette Gmerek and Linda Shelley; longtime companion, Robert Henterly; and other cherished relatives, friends and pets.  She is survived by Thomas B. Krieger and the extended Krieger families; brother, George H. (Diana) Foord, Jr. of Boston, MA; nephew, Philip Foord of Tampa, Florida; nieces, Eileen Martin, Sharon Stone and their families; special cousins, Ros “Bunty” Woods and Lorne Essex of England; and close friends, Sharon Horwitz and Linda Wirth of Virginia "the last of the fearsome foursome".

The old English epitaph: “to live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die” had special meaning for Rosemarie as she traced her ancestors, collected their stories, remembered them fondly and kept them in her heart.

Funeral Service will be Friday June 17, 6 PM at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 North Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44310 (corner of N. Main St. and Mildred Ave.).  Visitation will be ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time at the Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Fairview Cemetery in Boston Heights.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to The Humane Society of Summit County.

Due to Covid-19, the family encourages that those attending Visitation and Funeral services will practice social distancing and wear face masks.  If you are unable to attend or do not wish to attend, we understand and all love and prayers will be appreciated.
