Ruth Esther Boone

Ruth Esther Boone (nee Burkholder), 90, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born on Monday, April 11, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to the late Walter and Vola (McCaslin) Burkholder. Ruth retired after 32 years as a 1st grade teacher with the Waterford Schools, in Waterford, Michigan. After retirement, Ruth and her husband, Raymond enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. She was a faithful member of Lockwood United Methodist Church where she served as the church organist, and was involved in many other activities at the church. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Boone; sons, Kenneth Boone and Leonard Boone.  She is survived by her sons, Walter (Michelle) Boone; James (Candi) Boone; daughter, Carolyn (Dan) Filiatrault; grandchildren; Jeffery Bradford, Joshua (Shelby) Boone, Emily (Adam) Saltzgiber; and great grandchildren, Larkin, Aleric, Ezra, and Gabriel.

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park (Ivy Chapel), 2580 Romig Rd., Akron, OH 44321 on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 12 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Jim Ellison officiating.    

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lockwood United Methodist Church, 3680 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44319, in memory of Ruth Esther Boone.
