Sandra Lee Geesaman

Sandra Lee Geesaman passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on January 2, 2022, in Akron, Ohio. Known as Sandy to all, and Mammer to most, she was everything to everyone around her. Queen of the Thanksgiving turkey, trailblazer of technology, wizard of year-end taxes, keeper of the family tree, seamstress extraordinaire–-- the list goes on and on. And yet, no title was more fulfilled or important than wife and co-pilot to Marlin, her husband of 61 beautiful years.
Sandy graduated from Kenmore High School in 1959 and received an Associate degree in Accounting from Hammel Actual School in 1960, shortly before she began her favorite job of them all– raising her five children, Peggy, Linda, William, David and Scott. In 1977 she jumped into the work force in the payroll department at Sorkin, Thayer & Co., eventually moving to Charles Wolfe, PA in 1982 as the payroll manager, and then to Leppo, Inc. as comptroller in 1987, where she worked until she retired.
Even though her loved ones spanned from coast to coast, she made sure to meet them on their doorstep. You could often find her RVing out to Utah, Virginia, the Carolinas and everywhere in between. In fact, as a card-carrying member of the Buckeye Winnies–a social club for Ohio Winnebago RV enthusiasts such as herself–Sandy made countless friendships and memories traveling shotgun in the RV and cooking campground cuisine.
Sandy was a lot of things, but most of all, she was the leader of the pack. She will be remembered for her spirit and grit, for giving the best hugs, and for making the world’s best pot pie and cherry cheesecake. She will be remembered for how she shared her passions and interests with others, inspiring her family and friends to try new hobbies such as geocaching, cooking, genealogy and sewing. And most importantly, she will be remembered for being the best daughter, wife, mother, mammer, great-mammer and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert & Catherine (Betty) Catlin, and survived by her husband, Marlin Geesaman; her children, Peggy (Don) Shultz, Linda (Rex) Fletcher, William (Michele) Geesaman, David (Debbie Penley) Geesaman, Scott (Tori Stein) Geesaman; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins and a whole host of friends.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, 4-7pm at Bacher Funeral Home (3326 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44319). The funeral will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11am, Reverend Ron Shultz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sandy’s name to The Wilderness Center https://wildernesscenter.org, as she has been a long-time supporter.
