Sharon Wooding

On October 5, 2023, Sharon Leigh Wooding (nee Lucas) received her Heavenly wings and was welcomed to the streets of gold by her parents, Jesse and Opal (Bostic) Lucas.  She is home.  After 74 years of life, 52 years of which she gifted to her loving husband, Cliff, she closed her eyes in sleep and awoke in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 15, 1949, Sharon was the epitome of a Godly wife, mother and friend to all who knew her.  She and her husband raised a family of four children that she was so very proud of.  She had a way of making anyone that she knew feel like the most important person, whether it was a storage customer stopping by, the Amazon delivery guy, or a grandchild dropping in for a visit.  Her love was unconditional and ever-flowing and her faith in God was praiseworthy.  She was a selfless person, and her smile was known to light up a room and lift peoples’ spirits and hearts as soon as they saw her.  Sharon was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church in Barberton where she enjoyed singing hymns.  Sharon served others in a variety of roles, but most importantly, she loved Jesus and served Him all her life.  One of her favorite Scripture passages was John 14:2  “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.”  Her prayer for all she knew and loved was that they would have that same hope for the future which she knew could only be found in Jesus… that they would believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Sharon was met in heaven by many loved ones that had gone on before her.  She waits in heaven for the family that is left behind and will greatly miss her - husband Cliff; children Missy (Shane) Harbaugh, Chris (Melinda) Wooding, Jessica (Jeff) Bechdel, Matt (Rachel) Wooding; the grandchildren she loved so much - Tyler Wooding, Brittany Michael, Logan, Zoë and Skylar Bechdel, Shaina and Wade Harbaugh, and Lucas Wooding; sisters Jeani (Greg) LeFevre, Patti (Tim) Yarman and Suzi (Steve) Bendel as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Her dear friends Richard and Marcia Bonnett, Cindi Rich and Jane Brashear were such a big part of her life.  She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, MaMa, sister, aunt, and friend.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, Ohio 44203.  Funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours with Pastors Gage Norem and Bryan Feathers officiating.  Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio where she will be laid to rest.
