Steve Shimko

Steve "Frankie" Shimko, 87, passed away Nov. 24, 2009. Frank was born in Akron and lived in the area all his life. He was a paratrooper during World War II in the 82 Airborne and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 37 years of service. Frank is preceded in death by his wife Dessie Avalee Hill "Mickie"; parents, Paul and Rose (Vatko) Shimko; sons-in-law, Chuck Spitali and Donald Bixler. He is survived by daughters, Charlotte Spitali and Sherry Bixler; grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Breiding; Vincent (Lisa) Spitali and Annie (Ryan) Spitali; great-grandchildren, Nina, Ellie, Gia, Kate, Brooke, Claire and Benjamin Charles; sister, Margie Richardson; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Church, 2603 Benton Ave., Akron. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON. Steve's final resting place will be Hillside Memorial Park.
