Verna Louise Clifford

Verna Louise Clifford, 92, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Verna was born at home on Thursday, April 24, 1930 to the late Owen and Mary (West) Schrecengost in Boggs Township, Armstrong, PA. She married Parke on October 22, 1955 and they moved to the Norton area. She was a proud member of The Grace Church in Norton. Verna spent many years educating herself and others, with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Indiana Wesleyan University, retraining to specialize in elementary education at The University of Akron and then earned her Master's Degree in Education from Malone University. She taught for over 35 years in public school systems in Ohio, Hawaii, and Guam. Verna loved to travel, sing, and listen to music. She treasured the time she spent with family and friends, never passing up the opportunity for a Swenson's double cheeseburger. Her love of life, quick wit, and smile filled every room she entered. 

In addition to her parents, Verna is preceded in death by her loving husband, Parke W. Clifford; brother, W. Earl (Jack) Schrecengost; sisters, Frances White, Jane Ferkan, Lucille Reedy, Aline John, and Mildred Haye, as well as many loving  nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday May 26 at 12 PM at Grace Church - Norton Campus, 3970 S Cleveland Massillon Rd, Barberton, OH 44203, with Pastors Dan Gregory and Bob Combs officiating.  Visitation will be held One Hour Prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Verna's memory to Haven of Rest Ministries and the Macular Degeneration Society.
